Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's Former New Orleans Mansion Sells for $2.8 Million
The iconic 7,703-square-foot French Quarter home, once belonging to Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has found a new owner, fetching a substantial $2.8 million at auction in December. The impressive property attracted attention from 12 bidders, ultimately settling just below the $3 million mark, despite a starting bid of $1 million.
Scott Kirk, President and CEO of Interluxe Auctions, reported, "The property sold at auction for a total price of $2,800,000. It was recently listed at $3.25 million when Interluxe became involved, which represents a list/sell ratio of 86%." Kirk emphasized that the sale set a record for the highest price achieved for a single-family home in the French Quarter in over a year.
Built in the 1830s, the historic mansion was formerly owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen before becoming the residence of Jolie and Pitt. Boasting seven bedrooms, five bathrooms, and two half-baths, the home features a grand winding staircase, hardwood floors, and elegant marble mantles.
The property includes a chef's kitchen, an elevator, a home gym, a workshop, and an outdoor pool with a fountain. Additionally, there's a three-story guest house and a gated driveway adorned with gas lamps.
Pitt and Jolie originally purchased the home in 2006 and resided there for over a decade. However, following Jolie's divorce filing in 2016, the property was put up for sale. Notably, during their ownership, the couple utilized the mansion as their base for the Make It Right Foundation, a charitable organization founded by Pitt in 2007 to aid in the reconstruction of homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
The dissolution of Jolie and Pitt's marriage in 2016, just two years after their marriage in 2014, was a shock to their fans. Although many details about their separation remain private, certain aspects have surfaced due to the extended legal battle. The couple, who first connected romantically in 2004, share six children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 19, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 17, and 15-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
